Newly accredited Sri Lankan Residential Envoy to The State of Palestine H.E. Nawalage Bennet Cooray presented his credentials today to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Riad Al Malky at the Ministry in Ramallah, Palestine this morning 22 Tuesday, Aug.
Minister Al Malky Praised the depth of the historical and long-standing relations between two friendly counties.
The minister further stressed that his government is looking forward to more cooperation in the fields of Development especially by the projects of the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) and reactivating the Sri Lankan project such as the Mahinda Rajapaksa Vocational Training Centre of Nablus.
At the event, the latest developments in the political arena, in terms of Jerusalem and international efforts to revive the peace process were also briefed to the Sri Lankan Envoy By Minister Al-Maliki as he thanked Sri Lanka for its supportive stance for the Palestinian cause and its continuous support for the Palestinian people in all international forums.
In turn, Ambassador Nawalage Bennet Cooray conveyed the greetings of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, stressing that he will work for strengthening and developing the relations between the two countries and further expanding them to other areas.
The Lankan Envoy also reiterated Sri Lanka’s full solidarity with Palestine and its people and their rights to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
